GP Appointments
Appointments can be booked by phoning either our Drongan or Mossblown surgeries between 08:15 and 17:30, Monday to Friday. The GPs are offering a mix between face to face and telephone appointments daily. Both appointment types can be booked by any patient registered with the practice.
All appointments are 10 minutes in length. In order to provide our patients with the best care possible, GPs can only discuss 1 health concern per appointment. If you have multiple health concerns please ask reception to book you a double appointment. This is so that the GPs are able to allocate the appropriate time and attention in order to ensure they are providing you with the best possible care.
If you require an urgent appointment, please make the reception staff aware of this. The GPs aim to ensure that all emergencies are seen on the same day.
There has been an increasing number of patients booking appointments and failing to attend. In an audit ran in October 2022, it was found that between the 1st and 31st October a total of 20 hours and 40 minutes of clinical appointments were not attended by patients that had booked them. This is the equivalent of 130 appointments that were wasted and could have been used by other patients. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact reception so that it can be offered to another patient.
Video consultations
To try to add additional options during the COVID pandemic, NHS Ayrshire and Arran have introduced video consultations. Currently not all GPs are available for this type of consultation but the system is running.
To book a video consultation, please phone reception in the usual way. With a video consultation, the sound quality is not always great and, in most cases, they are not the best for examining patients. We would recommend that you make an initial telephone consultation with a GP. Once you have booked a video consultation please click here at the appointed time to enter our video waiting room and a GP will start up the consultation once the previous patient has been dealt with.
eConsult
We are happy to announce that we can offer an email based service, through the eConsult system. The eConsult system is an online triage system which can provide you with information and advice on many common health conditions. It will also send a copy of the eConsult to the GP practice which can then be reviewed by a GP to determine if any further action is needed.
Please note that this service may only be used by registered patients of Taiglum Medical Practice. The service is also not suitable for use in an emergency. If you feel that you have a medical emergency that needs to be dealt with that day, please phone the practice or the out of hour’s service on 111 if the practice is closed. To use this service please click here to open an email consultation.
